What role should the public have in shaping decisions related to AI technology?
40 Utahns will be selected by lottery to represent the residents of Cache County, Utah County, and Salt Lake County, and develop policy recommendations that can guide local, county, and state decisions. Delegates will mirror the region's demographics, so the discussions can be informed by a wide range of local perspectives.
Delegates will receive a $250 stipend in appreciation for their time.
Utah Common Ground, along with our partner organizations, invites Utahns to join an in-person or virtual gathering to discuss the future of AI and its impact in our communities.

Why participate?
Utahns are accustomed to diving in and solving problems in our communities, and in this new AI landscape there is work to be done! When discussing issues like AI that impact us as individuals, families, and communities, it is imperative that we figure out how to find common ground. We need to resist “letting the perfect be the enemy of the good,” and tune out the messages coming at us via social media that are literally designed to drive us apart. Enough already!
Utah Common Ground is hosting online and in-person discussions to enable Utahns to share their perspectives related to AI’s impact in our communities. Each viewpoint will be carefully considered and thoughtfully valued, helping to shape final recommendations and action plans. Participants will have access to objective information that can support constructive deliberation and lead to practical solutions. Also, it will be fun.
